We were up the West End watching the football last night. Like Indygal, we failed to get into Hubbards, so ended up in Oran Mor, which was mobbed.
Oran Mor was screening the game not through the usual Sky, but a foreign (Greek?) channel. This didn't show the national anthems, which was pretty odd. Then, about five minutes before Scotland scored, the game suddenly switched off, to be replaced by a blue screen with "Channel scrambled" written across it. Other people were on phones and listening to the radio, so relayed news of the Scotland goal around the pub.
We waited for the game to come back on, but instead we were treated to glimpses of figure skating, basketball, a shot of male models at a photoshoot and what was apparently a Turkish soap opera. Eventually the staff put the radio on, but not very loudly - the only place you could hear what was going on was in the ladies' toilets. Unsurprisingly, most of the customers left before the end of the game. We only found out what had happened by watching replays in Hubbards.
Maybe we were lucky to have missed the end of the game. Lke everyone else, I'm down that we lost in such a frustrating way. But Scotland have been playing better than I can ever remember recently, and I'm sure they'll move forward from here.

A posh and trendy Byres Road establishment pirating a Greek TV broadcast - shurely shome mistake! Next they'll be swapping their Kettle Chips for good ol' Golden Wonder.
